Increased identification of people living with HIV in the country / 22,000 patients with HIV

According to Fars News Agency’s Health Group, Kamal Heydari, Deputy Minister of Health at the World AIDS Day conference, which was held virtually, said: “When we look back, given the cumulative effect, we have a 21 percent increase in the population involved and This highlights the importance of the issue of identification, care and prevention, and of course the identification of people living with HIV is more complex than other diseases.

He added: “The decrease in the incidence and death rate in these years indicates the fact that we had a decrease in the number of conflicts and deaths, which also confirms the efforts of loved ones in managing the program.” There are 420,000 people living with the virus in the five regions of the world today and in the eastern Mediterranean. In this number, we see a 44% increase in diagnosis and a 50% increase in death, which is in the eastern Mediterranean region. Of course, in my opinion, some countries in our region do not provide complete information. Although our region is in a better position than other regions, there is still more work to be done.

Heidari continued: “In our country, we should have about 54,000 people infected with HIV, and the number of people identified is about one third or 40% of these cases, and 22,000 people were identified and the people under care were 15,799.” The same is true for people under treatment. This indicates that people are almost completely covered and the response to treatment is appropriate and about 14,000 people received the appropriate response.

The Deputy Minister of Health stated: “The identification process has been increasing in recent years, which is a valuable achievement and has reached 40%, and the people under cover who have been diagnosed with living cases are the same, and in any case.” The ascending course of the people covered by the treatment is very valuable and shows the efforts that have been made in the previous years.

He emphasized: in the campaign from November 11 to December 11, we have been able to test 60,000 people so far, which is a good move in the discussion of identification. Focusing on disease prevention and diagnosis is one of the important measures and this goal includes 5 final goals, 12 infrastructure goals, 12 strategies and 259 specific goals that in the specific goals, the share of each program partner is clearly defined. That the overall outcome of the goals will lead to the achievement of 90-90-90 international goals; This means that 90% of infected people should be identified, 90% of identified cases should be treated continuously, and 90% of cases treated with viral load should be reduced to non-transferable amounts.

Heidari continued: “The strategies of the fifth program are clear in such a way that by investing in infrastructure, we can increase the possibilities of HIV diagnosis and treatment and upgrade the epidemiological care system.”
