The second session of a series of online conversations on the subject of social networks and social impact, entitled “Modeling personal and social health status from social media metadata” on Wednesday, April 15 (17:00). 30), is held.

In this session, Professor Johan Bolen, Professor of Informatics and Cognitive Sciences at Indiana University and Director of the Center for Social Complexity and Biomedicine, examines the modeling of individual and social health status from social media metadata.

Advances in natural language processing and machine learning, as well as the accessibility of social media metadata, enable us to track the cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional status of millions of people almost instantly, he said.

The meeting will discuss the extraction of longitudinal mental health indicators from social media pages and people diagnosed with internal mental disorders.

Professor Bolen, Professor of Informatics and Cognitive Sciences at Indiana University, holds a PhD in Experimental Psychology from Brussels and a background in the Los Alamos Laboratory. He has published more than 80 articles in the field of computational social sciences, social complexity, health, well-being, machine learning and informatics in prestigious journals.

Professor Bolen’s research is supported by reputable centers such as NASA, DARPA and the NSF. His pioneering research and initiatives in the use of social metadata in predicting and examining social and individual behaviors have been widely referenced in recent years.
