Installation of the world heritage registration plate of the Hyrkani forests in the world site of Gosht Rudkhan

According to Aria Heritage report and quoted from the public relations of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Gilan Province, Fariba Babaei said: The registration plate is a universal work of the combined UNESCO/World Heritage mark, which is included in the scope of the world sites, and the right of spiritual use and the usage guidelines of this mark From the registration of a work in the world heritage list, it is available to the member country. The registration plates are designed to inform the public of the member country and foreign visitors and show the high value of a global site that is also recognized by the international community.

The supervisor of the Hirkani Forests World Heritage site added: Geshtroudkhan site is part of Geshtroudkhan and Siahmezgi protected area with an area of 40,000 hectares, of which only 26,000 hectares have been registered as a global site under the name Geshtroudkhan World Site. Due to its large size, this area is adjacent to many villages such as Zarindasht, Gerdavalast, Fosheh, Heydar Alat, Rudkhan Castle and Khorramkesh.

He clarified: The examination of the map of the global site shows that the area of Geshtroudkhan village is outside the scope of the global site and is far from it. In 2017, the route of this village was proposed for evaluation due to the ease of access to the proposed area and the car’s accessibility. Since the use of a registration plate is used to identify globally registered works and its installation is done within the scope of global sites, placing the plate in an area other than global sites is outside the UNESCO guidelines for installing registration plates.

Babaei said: Placing a license plate in the area of Rudkhan Castle Forest Park does not contradict the regulations for the installation of registration plates because this area is located in the privacy of the world site.

The supervisor of the local base of the world heritage of Hyrkani Forests added: Registration plaques represent an area as human heritage, and Rudkhan Castle is one of the tourist hubs of the province, which receives many tourists every year, so the installation of plaques in this area is of high educational and cultural value. and as mentioned in the instructions for the use of the combined emblem, it can have a significant impact on the introduction of the World Heritage Convention and the outstanding global values of the Hyrkanian forests.

He stated: The installation of the registration plate and the combined UNESCO/World Heritage emblem shows the commitment of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the World Heritage Convention.

Babaei further added: Considering the environmental considerations and the protection of natural sites, in the process of installing the plaque, not only the conditions should be examined visually and visibility, but this work should be done with full compliance with environmental considerations and no damage. To be done in the field of global registration. Therefore, in the future, the process of installing plaques in other world-registered sites will be done by conducting expert reviews and taking into account the environmental standards and considerations of world arenas.
