According to the Mehr news agency, quoting Radio Saba, silkworm breeding or the same industry that has slowed down compared to the past, is a family occupation that can be very profitable in nearly 2 months.

Noghandari activity has a history of 4500 years in the world. Iran has also benefited from the distant past of this industry, but the cultivation of silkworms and their cocoons in the country has had its ups and downs throughout history.

Silkworm is one of the useful insects that has a special place in the carpet weaving, textile and medical industries by producing silk thread and has also occupied many side jobs, therefore it has been noticed by human beings.

Iran is one of the oldest silkworm breeding countries, so that Gilan province is known as the center of production, silkworm breeding. Of course, in recent decades, many abandoned tobacco factories and cocoon factories in Gilan province have been closed, and according to the Silkworm Breeding Company, about 13,000 households have left this sector of production.

However, despite the fact that silkworm breeding exists in several provinces of the country, this industry is not given much value, and unfortunately, this industry is being forgotten. While at a time when the country is facing a shortage of currency and the problem of unemployment, with the support and prosperity of the silkworm breeding industry again, it is possible to create jobs.

Radio Saba examines the challenges of this industry with a humorous look in the comic challenge program “Like a Clock” next week.
