Iran becomes a member of the Women’s Development Organization of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

According to Fars News Agency’s community group; Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, in line with regional and international capacity building in the field of women and family with the approach of developing interaction and conceptualization, as well as for the development of convergence in the international arena, in June 1401 proposed to join the Women’s Development Organization of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the form of a bill. Joining this organization was prepared and submitted by the government.
This bill was approved by the government board on the 14th of January 1401 and was subsequently presented to the Islamic Council by the president on the third of February to go through the legal formalities of approval in the Islamic Council.

What is the Islamic Development Women’s Organization?
This organization was established as a specialized organization under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation with the aim of “developing and promoting the role of women in member countries in accordance with Islamic principles and values” and its headquarters is in Cairo, Egypt. Based on its constitution, this organization became effective two years ago with the membership of fifteen Islamic states.
What are the activities of the Women’s Development Organization?
The activity of this organization, based on Article 5 of the organization’s statutes, is as follows:
– Highlighting the role of Islam in protecting Muslim women’s rights; especially in international forums in which the organization participates;
– Implementation of plans and programs necessary to implement the policies, directions and decisions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the field of development, welfare and empowerment of women in the societies of member countries;
– Organizing summits, symposiums, workshops and meetings in the field of women’s development in member countries;
– Holding training courses and programs with the aim of strengthening and creating capacity, skills and competences in the field of women’s development and empowering them to fulfill their mission in the family and society;
– Support and encourage national efforts in member countries to develop human resources in the field of women’s development;
– Organizing activities with the aim of promoting the role of women and guaranteeing the full rights of women in the societies of member countries in line with the charter and decisions of the Organization of the Islamic Conference;
– conducting studies to strengthen the role of women in member countries;
– To activate the rights of women contained in the charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation by trying to remove the restrictions that enable women to participate in building society;
– Proposing solutions and methods of society’s support for women;
– Creating an information network that enables member countries to identify experiences and practices related to women, including through cooperation with civil society.
