Iran is among the top 10 countries in the world for thermal power plants



According to an IRNA report from the Ministry of Energy on Saturday, the total capacity of the world’s power plants has reached 7,320 gigawatts, of which thermal power plants, including heat, gas and combined cycle with a capacity of 4,284 gigawatts, have been able to account for 58%.

China, the United States, India, Japan, Russia, Germany, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Indonesia are the top 10 countries in the world in terms of thermal power plants, respectively.

Currently, the total capacity of Iran’s power plants (thermal, renewable, nuclear, hydropower, distributed generation and diesel) has exceeded 86,000 MW, of which 69,000 MW is related to thermal power plants and these units are responsible for 92% of the country’s electricity production. .

So far, 587 thermal power plants have been built in 129 power plants in the country, of which more than 67% of this capacity is in the hands of the private sector. Will enter the circuit.

According to the latest assessment, the Islamic Republic of Iran, with 86,000 megawatts of power plant capacity, is the 14th largest electricity producer in the world and the first in the Middle East.
