Iranian cinema is going to the Moscow festival with 2 films
The documentary “The House of Magnificent Mother” and the short film “Open from here” entered the documentary and short film competition section of the 2023 Moscow Film Festival, respectively.
Charso Press: The feature-length documentary “House of Magnificent Mother” directed by Mehdi Bakshi Moghadam, which entered the documentary competition section of the 45th Moscow International Film Festival in Russia, is a story of women who spend the days after quitting addiction in a common space.
“Maman Shkowe’s House” was screened at the 16th “Truth Cinema” festival, and at the end of the festival, the special prize of the jury was awarded to Mehdi Bakhshi Moghadam and Mehdi Shamhammadi. This film also received the award for the best sound (Mohammad Hossein Ebrahimi). “Maman Shkowe’s House” is a production of the Center for the Development of Documentary, Experimental and Animated Cinema and its producer is Mehdi Shamhammadi.
The 45th Moscow Film Festival under the direction of Nikita Mikhalkov will be held from April 31 to May 7, 1402. In the past years, this festival has hosted famous figures of world cinema, including Federico Fellini, Akira Kurosawa, Christoph Kieslowski, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert De Niro, Asghar Farhadi, Reza Mirkarimi, Brad Pitt”, “Quentin Tarantino”, “Tim Burton”, “Sean Penn” and “Jack Nicholson”.
The list of films of the Moscow festival in the non-competitive sections is not yet complete, but so far the short film “Open from here” by Amirhossein Talebi and Mohsen Asadeqpour has also entered the short film competition section.
In this film, the cinematographer Mahdiyeh Sahmi, the editor Bahram Omrani, the sound operator Amin Jafari, and the sound engineer Abdolreza Heydari were present as well as Behnam Omran, the music designer, Sachlin Mahdilou, the make-up designer, Mohammad Amin Ghazanfari, the special effects designer, Fazeh Mohammadi and Pouyan Bagandeh, the set designer, and Melina Baghandeh designed its clothes.
In the synopsis of this film, in which Siavash Cheraghipour, Behrad Selahvarzi, Mehdi Rezaei, Ali Rahimi have acted and it was made in Tehran, it is stated: “From the day when the lucky buttons reach Abram’s tailor, life becomes magic.” Now he, along with his cat “Humira”, are involved in the world’s justice process.
