Is it legal to train “physician assistant” in private schools?

Parham Parsanjad, vice president of Iran’s Physiotherapy Scientific Association, in an interview with Fars News Agency’s health reporter, said: Medical education has been out of the control of the Ministry of Health. Unfortunately, in the past year, the Science and Research Unit of Azad University and some schools in the country have been charging huge tuition fees and Without obtaining permission from the Ministry of Health, they conduct training courses for physician assistants, paramedics, and physiotherapists.

He continued: Neither such courses are basically defined in the education department of the Ministry of Health, nor is the competence of these centers to hold them approved by that ministry. The scientific authorities of these fields of medical sciences also consider the certificates issued by these institutions to be of no value and credibility for employment in their professions.

The vice president of the Scientific Association of Physiotherapy of Iran added: At the moment, only young people remain who pay huge sums and spend time in these courses, go to medical centers for employment, and not only do not get the job they want, but they realize that this From the point of view of the country’s main healthcare provider, the degrees and courses have no value and credibility.

Parsanjad said: This phenomenon, which is rapidly expanding due to the profitability and luck of young people who lack suitable jobs and are interested in medicine, will cause irreparable consequences for the health of people and patients, while disrupting the educational system of the Ministry of Health.

He stated: People who take these unlicensed courses have traveled a hundred years overnight and consider themselves allowed to interfere in medical matters, which only graduates of medical sciences from medical sciences universities across the country are allowed to do.

The vice-president of the Scientific Association of Physiotherapy of Iran stated: The concern for the health and treatment of patients becomes more serious when we see that not only is there no control over education, but no serious monitoring program has been planned for the advertising of unqualified people working in the field of treatment, especially on social networks. And people turn to them unaware of the dangers.

Parsanjad noted: Following the correspondence of the Legal Committee of the Iranian Physiotherapy Association with the Ministry of Health, the Legal and Regulation Department of the Ministry asked the Science and Research Unit of Azad University to approve the “Law on Closing Educational, Research and Cultural Institutions and Units without License” 1373 and its executive regulations to stop its educational activities in this area.

He added: In addition to this, the vice president of the supervision of the medical system organization has made the same request to Azad University in a letter, which not only has not been complied with, but this violation is also spreading in the cities.
