Regarding the impact of the release of some of Iran’s blocked money on the Iranian economy, Abbas Argon stated: ‌ This money has already been spent. It is true that the central bank can be effective in terms of foreign exchange power and also helpful in terms of foreign exchange market management, but it has already been spent and can not be reused.

He added: “When the government has sold oil or products, we have taken some of these currencies from the central bank in rials, and this money has also been spent, and it is not possible to spend it again.”

A member of the board of representatives of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said: “It means that the government took Rials from the Central Bank in exchange for selling oil, but did not give dollars to the Central Bank because the money was blocked, while it has money from Iran in countries where money is blocked.” When he is released, he takes the dollar and gives it to the central bank, which has already received the rial.

He added: “However, the release of this money will help the central bank to manage the foreign exchange market and meet the needs of the market, but it is not the case that it is a new currency that adds a new source to government resources.” Therefore, we spend this money in Rials and the government provides the currency to the Central Bank, so nothing special can be done from this money.
