Kremlin: We will confront NATO’s approach to Russia’s borders

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said today (Thursday) that Moscow is closely monitoring the joint exercise of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) with Serbia.

During a daily press conference in the Kremlin, Peskov said: “NATO’s expansion towards Russia’s borders creates problems and concerns for our security.”

According to “Sputnik” news agency, he explained about this: “For this reason, Russia is taking measures to balance the security structure of the European continent against the background of NATO’s approach to its borders.”

In response to a question about China’s plan for peace in Ukraine, the Kremlin spokesman said: “China has the ability to mediate, but the situation in the case of Ukraine is still difficult.”

In this regard, Peskov added: “Kiev does not show a vision for a peaceful settlement, and there is no way to achieve Russia’s goals except special military operations.”

According to Sputnik, he also stated about the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus: “NATO is expanding towards us and we have the right to defend our security.”

This Russian official stated that Moscow will closely monitor the exercises planned by Serbia and NATO and said: “The West’s efforts to attract Serbia to take an anti-Russian stance will not stop.”

According to this report, Peskov also announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Turkish Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin and discussed the implementation of large projects, including the Akguyo nuclear power plant.

Yesterday, in response to a question about the fate of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to end the conflicts, he stated: “Russia still does not see any prospects for negotiations with Ukraine.” (More details)
