According to Mehr News Agency, quoted by Sputnik, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the host at the beginning of the virtual meeting of the heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, congratulated Iran on its official accession to the organization today (Tuesday).
Furthermore, in his speech at this summit, which is being held virtually, Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Tehran’s official accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Modi said: It gives me pleasure to announce that Iran has joined the SCO family as an official and full member. In this regard, I wish all the success for Iran, President Ebrahim Raisi and the people of Iran.
Xi Jinping also emphasized: We will welcome Iran as an official member in today’s meeting. Congratulations to this country.
He also asked the members of this organization to deal with efforts to start a new cold war in the region. He emphasized his country’s opposition to the policy of color revolutions and foreign interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
The President of China also suggested in his remarks that trade agreements and exchanges with national currencies between the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization should increase.

At the virtual meeting of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Russian President Vladimir Putin, while congratulating Iran for officially joining the organization, emphasized that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is committed to establishing a just world order with the central role of the United Nations.
In this regard, he added: “Shanghai Organization participates in maintaining peace, stability, development and sustainable growth of member countries of the organization and strengthening relations between people. Putin went on to say that “in the war in Ukraine, a hybrid war has been launched against Russia” and said: “Of all I appreciate the partners of the Shanghai Organization for supporting Russia after the events of June 24 (Prigozhin and Wagner’s rebellion against the Russian army).
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an economic and security alliance in the Eurasian region, and it is considered the largest regional alliance in the world in terms of geographical size and population.
This organization accounts for approximately 20% of the world’s gross domestic product and currently consists of eight permanent members, including Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and with the full accession of Iran, this country He will become the ninth permanent member of this economic-security organization.
