Mozilla is one step closer to creating the next generation of Firefox browser extensions

Mozilla has added manifest functionality based on V3, which is supposed to make a big change on the structure of Firefox web browser extensions.

According to Aetna and quoted by techradar, in fact, it was in 2018 that the MV3 structure was first introduced by Google and it was supposed to quickly make a very big change on the architecture of web browser extensions, but it seems that the rival company was able to is to take away the competition from this company.

Mozilla has been able to use this feature to increase security, improve privacy and optimize the performance of plugins, and MV3 is supposed to create a revolution in this category.

Since Monday, November 21, it has been possible for developers to upload extensions based on the MV3 structure, making Firefox the first browser to support this structure.

It is worth noting that the previous version of this system, which was called Mv2, should be officially deprecated by all Chromium-based browsers in June 2023.

Of course, we are not going to see the end of security problems in plugins by using MV3, and there are even enemies in this field. For example, the Electronic Pioneers Foundation has been highly critical in this regard and has said: “MV3 will not only not solve security problems, but will also reduce innovation and add-on capabilities and have a negative impact on performance.”

The important thing is that Google uses the structure of Chromium and Google provided Chrome based on this structure, but unlike Google and Microsoft, Mozilla was not required to use MV3, but pioneered it. Even Apple will soon use this structure on Safari browser on iOS and MacOS, and therefore the future belongs to this structure.
