Opposition and supporters of the elimination of 4200 Tomans in a meeting with the President

According to the economic correspondent of Fars News Agency, last night a meeting of economists was held with the president and at the beginning of the meeting, the president asked 4 questions.

1- Why are the macro indicators of the country’s economy not favorable?

2- Why the inflation that was supposed to be in single digits did not happen?

3. Why do people not see the tens of billions of dollars in hidden subsidies paid by the government in their lives?

4- Why have we had economic growth of less than one percent, despite the thousands of billions of tomans spent by the government in the last 8 years?

Among the economists and experts present at the meeting, Gholamreza Mesbahi Moghadam and Mohammad Khoshchehreh tried to answer questions in their speeches.

Following the discussion, considering the atmosphere in the media and the statements of some government officials in recent days, the subject of discussion was the government’s plan to eliminate the 4,200 Toman currency and pay it in the form of cash subsidies.

Some economists present at the meeting such as Parviz Davoodi, Ahmad Tavakoli, Khoshchehreh and Hossein راغفر They criticized the plan.

Other members present at the meeting often stressed the need to eliminate the 4,200 toman currency and believed that it would have positive results for the Iranian economy, but also expressed concerns about the inflationary effects of the government’s decision.

It is said that the difference of opinion between the economists present at the meeting about the plan to eliminate the 4200 Toman currency was serious and approached the debates between the economic schools. And these discussions continued before the end of the meeting and in the last minutes of the meeting, Mohsen Rezaei, Vice President for Economic Affairs, announced that in the coming days, separate meetings with economists will be held at the Vice President for Economic Affairs and there will be enough opportunity to explain opinions and views.
