“Patriotic Union” boycotted the participation in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers


According to the report of Fars International News Agency, in the continuation of the increasing differences between the two main parties of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, namely the Patriotic Party of Kurdistan and the Democratic Party, over how to manage affairs in this region, the Patriotic Party of Kurdistan announced that it will no longer attend the meetings of the Council of Ministers in Erbil.

Soran Jamal Taher, the spokesman of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, announced: “Until our demands are fulfilled and our complaints and grievances are taken seriously, we will not participate in any of the meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers.”

In this regard, Ghiyath al-Sourchi, one of the main leaders of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, told the Al-Sumaria News website that the delegation that went to Baghdad from Iraqi Kurdistan to negotiate with the Iraqi central government is only a representative of the Democratic Party and will never be able to achieve positive results in Baghdad without The presence of representatives of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

He said: “Especially after the boycott of the Cabinet of Ministers meetings and the ongoing negotiations with the Democratic Party, the delegation present in Baghdad cannot do anything.”

Ghiyath al-Sourchi further emphasized that the Kurdistan Regional Government is not able to solve the problems within the region, so how can it solve the issues and problems between Erbil and Baghdad.

He also said about the differences between Erbil and Sulaymaniyah: “Patriotic unity cannot continue according to the mechanisms of the Democratic Party, and it is necessary to start negotiations as soon as possible to resolve the remaining differences.”

On the other hand, Shirzad Samad, one of the leaders of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, told Alfrat News: “There is no understanding between the Patriotic Union and the Democratic Party of Kurdistan, and the two parties have sharp differences about the issues of the Kurdistan region and the cases discussed with Baghdad and participation in the separate regions. Due to the climate and the policy of the Democratic Party in the regional government, it behaves against all Kurdish parties with the method of majority and minority.
