Pentagon: We can not confirm or deny reports of Ukrainian attack on Russian warship

A Pentagon staffer who assisted in compiling the report said that the Pentagon did not comment on the value or accuracy of the information which was allegedly leaked to the Russian Navy.

He said the incident would affect Russia’s ability in the short term, adding that Russia had a naval advantage over Ukraine in terms of the number of ships and firepower, but could not move freely in the Black Sea.

A Pentagon spokesman said in a statement that “we do not take any potential nuclear threat very seriously. Russia has not taken any action to stop the flow of security aid to Ukraine, either by land or by air.”

“We do not consider it trivial, but we will not go into further detail on military supplies to Ukraine,” he said.

A Pentagon spokesman did not rule out the possibility of sending more Stinger anti-missile systems to Ukraine, adding that the latest package of security assistance was decided in consultation with Ukraine and based on their needs in Donbas.

Ukrainian officials have claimed that the ship was targeted by a Neptune anti-ship missile and sank.

Ukrainian officials say guided anti-ship guided missiles hit Moscow, which operated from the Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol, Crimea.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan called the blast on a Russian naval warship “Moscow” a major blow to Moscow, saying it was either due to crew incompetence or a successful Ukrainian attack.

The White House National Security Adviser added: “The Ukrainians contacted us last night and said that they had targeted the Russian ship with anti-ship missiles. We do not have the capacity to independently confirm this attack at this time, but there is no doubt that the manner in which this happened is a major blow to Russia.

Sullivan continued: “This is Russia’s most advanced ship and now they have to confirm its serious damage.” They had to choose between two narratives. First, the cause of the accident was incompetence, and second, the ship was attacked. In any case, it is not a good result for them.

According to Tass, the Moscow ship was added to the Soviet Navy in 1982 and is one of three Slavic-class guided missile warships. The other two Slavs are Marshal Austinov and Varyag, who work in the Mediterranean.

Moscow is not the first Russian warship to be damaged during Ukraine’s 50-day war.

It was previously reported that another Russian ship sank near the Ukrainian port of Berdyansk after an attack by Ukrainian forces.

The firefight eventually damaged a merchant ship in the port of Berdyansk and caused damage.
