Pixel 8 Pro dissection reveals its thermometer sensor + video

Some time ago, we saw the release of the Pixel 8 autopsy video, and now it’s time for the Pro model of this series. iFixit dissected the $999 Pixel 8 Pro and revealed its internal components such as the temperature sensor.
At the beginning of the video, iFixit’s Shahram Mokhtari takes apart the Pixel 8 Pro screen. After separating the display from the device, the millimeter wave 5G antenna cable and the main frame are separated. Mokhtari tries to separate this piece by using plastic tabs under the battery.
Dissection of Pixel 8 Pro
Although there are plastic tabs under the battery, it is not easy to remove the battery due to the use of glue and requires isopropyl alcohol. After removing the battery, Mokhtari goes to the main camera of the Pixel 8 Pro, which includes three sensors. The main camera of this device is 50 megapixels, which is accompanied by a 48 megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 48 megapixel telephoto camera.
Finally, we face the Pixel 8 Pro thermometer; A part that is only used in this device and there is no news of it in the standard version. Mokhtari shows this piece up close that we are facing only four circular sensors. This part can read surface temperature with high accuracy; Of course, body temperature measurement is awaiting approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

According to Mokhtari, the parts in the Pixel 8 Pro are not software locked, unlike the iPhone, so you should definitely not get new parts from Google itself. In addition, Google has promised to release software updates for this device for up to 7 years, so the non-locking of parts is good news for buyers of this flagship.
