Printing of quality textbooks/70% self-sufficiency in supplying paper for books – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news

According to Mehr reporter, we all have memories from the books of our school days. The appearance of the book, from its drawings and photos to the type of paper and cardboard, has all contributed to the formation of a common memory of textbooks in our minds.

Quality textbook printing is always one of the concerns of educators and students; In addition to the importance of the content, illustrations and paintings inside the book, the material of the book and its binding are also very important.

With the beginning of the 13th government and in the very first days, it became clear that the government is looking for self-sufficiency in the production of paper needed by the country. In this regard, the Ministry of Education was looking for the supply of paper and cardboard from within the country for the printing of textbooks, and the Educational Research and Planning Organization, as the institution in charge of preparing textbooks, sought to supply paper and cardboard with domestic products.

Hojjatul-Islam wal-Muslimin Ali Latifi, deputy minister and head of educational research and planning organization, in a conversation with Mehr reporter regarding the attention to the necessary materials for the production of textbooks, said: although one of the measures is not related to content production, it is an important and effective measure for the production of books. which needs to be done; The issue of providing paper and cardboard for textbook printing and self-sufficiency is in this discussion.

So far, we have procured 30,000 tons of paper from within the country, and in fact, 70% of the paper we need has been procured from within the country

He pointed out that education needs about 45,000 tons of paper and about 5,000 tons of cardboard to produce books every year. He said: During the years after the revolution, all the cardboard and most of the paper needed to print books were imported from abroad, and we had a maximum of about 5 thousand tons of domestically produced paper.

The head of Educational Research and Planning Organization said: This year, we have procured 30,000 tons of paper from within the country, and in fact, 70% of the paper we need has been procured from within the country. We will get all the cardboard we need from Zanjani factory.

Latifi stated that this Zanjani factory has recently announced its readiness to determine the cardboard we need; He stated: This technology has never been in Iran and after we saw the prototypes; We printed with that book and the result was a good book. We decided to supply all the cardboard needed to print textbooks from within the country and from this Zanjani factory.

The head of educational research and planning organization pointed out: this cooperation is a very good thing; Especially since it is a practical measure to support domestic production.

It should be noted that 100% self-sufficiency in the production of textbook cover cardboard, in addition to saving and cutting the cost of importing foreign cardboard paper, also reduces the costs of printing, cutting and sizing book covers and minimizes the waste of cardboard paper, which in general leads to The price of textbooks will be controlled and the price of textbooks will increase minimally for families and students.

In its first transformative action, the Research Organization entrusted the preparation and production of 30,000 tons of special paper for the printing of textbooks for the academic year 1403-1402 to Mazandaran Wood and Paper Company, and this was the first time that such a contract of this size was concluded with a domestic company. This amount of production will ensure that about 67% of the paper required for printing textbooks will be provided from within the country and huge savings will be made in this field.
