According to Fars News Agency, quoting the public relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping, Lebanese Minister of Transportation Ali Hamieh met with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Group to Lebanon, examining the prospects of joint cooperation to activate shipping lines between Lebanese ports and Iran stated: “Iranian ships can not dock in Lebanese ports under the circumstances that despite the toughest sanctions against the shipping of the Islamic Republic of Iran, these ships operate in many international waterways; For this reason, I am telling the Lebanese that these ships are now able to unload and load in the ports of countries other than Lebanon.
Noting that Iranian ships cross the Suez Canal and unload their cargo at the container terminal, he said: “These ships then cross the Lebanese side, go to Syria and from there to Istanbul, but the question is why they can not go to Lebanese ports to enter?
Hamieh continued: The shipping holding of the Islamic Republic of Iran, consists of more than 18 companies active in various maritime fields and is ranked 14th in the world in terms of container cargo.
He said: “Accordingly, we have started a new phase of cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and certainly, the arrival of ships of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lebanon, which has a special geographical location in the eastern Mediterranean, can pave the way for economic prosperity.” Our country’s ports and increase Lebanon’s public revenues.
Hamieh stressed: The Lebanese Ministry of Transportation is negotiating with the Islamic Republic Shipping Company to welcome Iranian ships in Lebanese ports in accordance with the rules and the constitution, as well as turning it into a government order.
He also stressed: Lebanon is determined to cooperate with the Shipping Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of Lebanese laws and regulations, and in line with Lebanon’s commercial interests, issues any governing order that is needed; Because national interests are non-negotiable and the benefits of this action will be in the public treasury.
In this meeting, the head of the Iranian delegation, referring to the importance of launching maritime transport of goods between the ports of the two countries, called this a fundamental step in serving the merchants and facilitators of trade between the two countries.
He also referred to the important shipping achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1400, despite the most severe sanctions imposed on this national fleet by the United States. Brilliant achievements have been made in the field of container and bulk cargo, which shows the intelligence of this fleet in the field of circumventing sanctions.
