Reduce the incidence of Covid-19 worldwide; Middle East least decline

It has been three and a half months since the outbreak of the coronavirus worldwide, IRNA reported on Sunday, and a census shows that the world is beginning to breathe a sigh of relief.

The number of cases has been declining in all parts of the world over the past week, the report said. While the positive cases of Covid-19 were announced as 3.30 million daily, at the end of last week, after nearly 15 weeks, this number decreased by 10%.

In fact, most parts of the world have seen this improvement. In the United States and Canada, the incidence of coronavirus fell by 38%. The rate is down 21 percent in Africa, 16 percent in Asia, 13 percent in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 4 percent in the Middle East. The situation in Europe shows a stable situation with a one percent increase in the incidence.

The prevalence of Covid-19 in the Oceania region is growing by 78% due to its peak in Australia, and regardless of the country, this figure shows a 10% increase in the incidence.

The report acknowledges from a regional perspective that the situation is very different across countries. Iran, for example, recorded the strongest weekly acceleration with a 233 percent increase in positive cases compared to the previous week. The situation is similar in Armenia with a 138 percent increase and in South Korea with a 100 percent increase in the incidence rate. Conversely, some countries have seen significant declines in the past week. The prevalence rate in the Dominican Republic and Nepal fell by 65%, while in Argentina and Morocco it fell by 51% and 49%, respectively.

The United States recorded the highest rate of Covid-19 with 362,800 cases per day, followed by France and India. However, all three countries are also experiencing significant reductions in infection rates.

In terms of population-to-infection ratio, Denmark has the highest incidence rate in the past week, followed by Slovenia, Occupied Palestine, Georgia and Portugal.

The high rate of Covid-19 casualties in the world

The number of Covid-19 casualties worldwide continues to rise for the fourth consecutive week. The incidence of the omicron strain is four times stronger than previous waves of the corona epidemic, but its mortality rate is much lower. The highest number of deaths belongs to January 2021 (December 1399).

The number of Covid-19 victims in the United States reached 900,000 on Friday, according to Johns Hopkins University. The country had already recorded the threshold of 800,000 deaths by mid-December. The daily death rate in the United States is still high, averaging 2,400 a day.

In terms of population, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Bulgaria had the highest daily deaths last week.

According to AFP statistics, as of Friday (February 4), since the end of December 2019, more than 5.7 million people in the world have lost their lives due to the Corona virus.
