Review of the latest situation in the Caucasus; One of the important points of the meeting between Erdogan and Biden

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, informed sources reported on Saturday that the latest situation in the South Caucasus will be examined and evaluated in the upcoming meeting between the Presidents of Turkey and the United States.

According to the news agency “Trend News“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to meet with his American counterpart Joe Biden in the coming days,” said Ibrahim Kalin, a spokesman for the Turkish president at the G20 summit in Rome, Italy.

“The meeting will be held in Italy or the United Kingdom, where climate change is being studied,” he added. The details of this meeting are being reviewed. “The situation in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and the South Caucasus, as well as bilateral relations, will be discussed at the meeting.”

Earlier, the Turkish president had said that the Ankara-Washington dispute over F-35 fighter jets would be on the agenda of his talks with his American counterpart in Scotland.

Biden left for Italy on Thursday and met with Pope Francis in the Vatican on Friday before attending the G20 summit in Rome. He will travel to Glasgow next week to attend the World Summit of Leaders on November 1 and 2, at the beginning of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Erdogan will attend both meetings, and if his and Biden’s plans are coordinated, a meeting could be held between them.

The dispute between the United States and Turkey, which led to Ankara’s exclusion from the F-35 program, began after the Turkish government decided to buy Russian-made S-400 missile defense systems. In response, Washington canceled the sale of F-35 jets to Turkey for allegedly revealing military secrets to Russia. However, Turkey has stressed that Russia’s air defenses pose no threat to US or NATO security.

Russia and Turkey signed a $ 2.5 billion contract in December 2017 to deliver four S-400 batteries. Delivery of all components of the S-400 air defense missile system to Turkey was completed last year.
