Rumors of the removal of the tomb of Sheikh Safi al-Din from the World Register list are not true



According to the report of Aria Heritage, quoting the public relations of the General Directorate of Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts of Ardabil Province, Nader Fallahi this morning, November 17, 1400, referring to the rumor of removing the tomb of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili from the UNESCO World Heritage List, said: “It is a rumor and does not pose any definite or potential danger to this monument.”

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Ardabil Province added: “The tomb of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili is a world heritage and due to the importance of this world collection, we will not allow anyone to damage the collection, both in terms of privacy and landscape.”

“In recent years, extensive measures have been taken to protect and maintain the Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili World Heritage Site, and development projects are underway,” he continued.

Fallahi said: “The tomb of Sheikh Safi al-Din named after the famous mystic Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili was built in 735 AH by his son Sadr al-Din Musa, and this valuable collection, which is one of the 10 most important ancient monuments in Iran, is the 11th of July 2010.” “Iran’s valuable historical monument has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.”

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Ardabil Province stated: “In this work, no destruction has been done, either structurally or decoratively, and the tomb is more prosperous and beautiful than ever.”

“The Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili World Heritage Site has a sanctuary that has been approved by UNESCO and cannot be changed,” he said.

“Any decision regarding a change in the construction of the tomb and its grounds will be taken by the Ministry of Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts and the Supreme Council of Architecture and Urban Planning, and there was only one building in progress at the site of the dispute,” Fallahi said. “This issue is currently being pursued in the judiciary.”

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Ardabil Province stated: “I ask the people of media, culture and art to obtain the necessary information from the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the province before any rumors are spread.”
