According to Mehr News Agency, “Sergei Ryabkov” said in an interview with Russia Today that Moscow accepts the possibility of discussing Iran’s missile program, but this is possible only if the resumption of talks on Borjam and Iran’s nuclear program.
“If there is political will, these issues (Iran’s ballistic missile program and infiltration) can be discussed,” he added.
Ryabkov went on to urge the US and European signatories to the UN Security Council to be “realistic”; This means that “they must first return to the Iran nuclear deal, and then find out when and how they can talk about this or that issue.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry last Thursday issued a statement announcing that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov had held talks with US envoy to Iran Robert Mali on Tehran’s return to fulfilling its obligations under the UN Security Council in Moscow.
According to the report, a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry said: “There was a significant exchange of views on the prospects of restoring the full implementation (commitments) of the UN Security Council.” Both sides announced their determination to continue cooperation in the form of (negotiations) in Vienna with the participation of all member states of the UN Security Council, including Iran and US representatives.
The two sides stressed the importance of Tehran’s desire to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible, and stressed the need for further action based on the results of the June and April talks.
