Samsung’s foldable laptop will be introduced in the second half of 2024

According to reports, Samsung is developing A slim folding laptop named Flexnote And the unique drop hinge mechanism. According to sources from The Elec, the device is expected to launch in the second half of next year. This waterdrop design, which Samsung calls the Flex Hinge, was first introduced with Samsung’s foldable smartphones, the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.

This hinge can also help reduce the thickness of the product, but it may raise concerns about the durability of this laptop and ultimately increase the thickness of the device. Despite the attractive design, industry insiders question the need for teardrop hinges for foldable laptops. Unlike smartphones that are placed close to the eyes, the use of foldable laptops is different. Due to the heavier nature of laptops, a U-shaped hinge may be a more practical alternative. An expert on this matter stated that the advantages of the water drop hinge in the laptop may not be noticeable to the users.

Additionally, while LG has already released a foldable laptop called the Gram Fold, Samsung’s decision to wait is seen as strategic due to the current challenges in the IT industry. Some argue that Samsung’s foray into the foldable laptop market may not provide significant differentiation or profit, given their relatively weaker position in the laptop segment.

As for old laptop panels, potential suppliers are expected to be Samsung Display or BOE Technology Group. Meanwhile, Apple is rumored to be working on a foldable MacBook that could launch in 2026.

Galaxy Flex Note may be introduced next year

The FlexNote foldable laptop may sound like a pipe dream, but the idea that the Korean tech giant is developing such a device isn’t based on obscure trademarks or patent applications. In fact, Samsung has already shown off the FlexNote prototype a couple of times.

The company first introduced the FlexNote prototype at CES 2022 and then brought the foldable laptop to MWC 2023. This product is a 13-inch laptop that can be turned into a 17-inch wide monitor when opened.
