According to the Mehr news agency, Iraqi sources reported that the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps met with the leaders of the Shiite coordination delegation in Iraq. Sardar Qaani will also meet with Muqtada al-Sadr, the leaders of the Sadr faction, after meeting with the Shiite Coordination Board.
The Iraqi Shiite Coordinating Council today issued a statement on the latest political developments in the country. The Shiite Coordination Council stated that the delegation emphasizes the need for continued political dialogue to overcome the current sensitive situation in Iraq.
“Recently, members of the Shiite Coordination Board held a meeting to review the latest developments in Iraq, and the meeting discussed the positive achievements of the meeting between Hadi al-Amiri and Muqtada al-Sadr,” the statement said.
The statement also said that the Shiite Coordination Council is seeking a solution to the current situation in Iraq. We emphasize the need to realize the interests of the citizens and the national unity in Iraq.
Meanwhile, Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadr faction in Iraq, posted a Twitter post yesterday after meeting with Hadi al-Amiri, the leader of the Fatah coalition in Najaf. In this Twitter post, which has been published several times before, the leader of the Sadr faction stressed the need to form a national majority government. “Neither East nor West, the government of the national majority,” Sadr tweeted.
Earlier, sources familiar with the important details of the recent meeting between Muqtada al-Sadr and Hadi al-Amiri in Najaf revealed. The sources said that three issues were discussed during the meeting. The first issue was the formation of a larger parliamentary coalition to form the next government. The second issue was related to the popular rally.
It is said that it was discussed at this meeting that no action should be taken against the popular uprising. The third issue concerned the powers of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. During the meeting, it was stated that the Shiite Coordination Board could veto any security decision regarding the powers of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, provided that it was taken without consulting them.
