Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are interested in taking over the Arash gas field – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news

According to Mehr News Agency, two countries, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, have made claims about the Arash gas field in the past few days, which these two countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council call Al-Dara.
In the latest claim, Saudi Arabia emphasized that the ownership of the Al-Dara (Arash) gas field belongs solely to this country and Kuwait, and asked Iran to start negotiations on the drawing of water borders.
The official Saudi news agency, quoting an informed official in the country’s foreign ministry, claimed on Tuesday night that the ownership of natural resources in the divided water areas, including the “Al-Dara” (Arash) gas field, completely and only belongs to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and only These two countries have complete sovereignty over the natural resources of this region.
This Saudi official said: Saudi Arabia once again asks Iran to start negotiations regarding the drawing of the eastern borders of the blue zone that is divided between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. According to international laws, this country and Kuwait form a negotiating party against the Iranian side!
On the other hand, Saad Al-Barak, Kuwait’s oil minister, also claimed: Al-Dara field is the natural wealth of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and no other party has any rights in it until the demarcation of the maritime borders is determined. We were surprised by Iran’s claims and intentions regarding Al-Dara Square, which are in conflict with the simplest rules of international relations. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia completely agree to be a negotiating party.
Kuwait’s oil minister called on Iran to adhere to the drawing of international maritime boundaries before it has a right to Al-Dara field!
Earlier, an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country claimed: The sea area in which the Al-Dara (Arash) gas field is located is in the maritime territory of Kuwait and its natural resources are shared between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and have exclusive rights in Kuwait once again invites the Iranian side to start negotiations to determine the water borders between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia as a negotiating party with Iran.
Also, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser Al-Sabah claimed: Iran has no stake in the “Al-Dara” gas field, and this field is completely owned by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
The dispute over this oil-gas field between Iran and Kuwait dates back to the 1960s, when each of these countries assigned drilling rights to discover gas to two different companies. In 2011, Iran resumed drilling in this field, which led Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to agree on the demarcation of their maritime borders and the delineation of joint oil fields. Then, for several years, Iran and Kuwait held negotiations to resolve the disputes over the coastal belt area on the maritime border of the two countries, but there was no result.
On March 21, 2022, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait signed an agreement for the development of this gas field, according to which Kuwait Oil Company and Aramco Company take the necessary measures to develop this gas field and extract it.
According to estimates, the amount of gas that can be extracted from the Arash gas field is very large. The Arash-Al-Dara gas field is located in the southwest of Khark Island and in the south of the Abu Zar offshore oil field in the border waters between Iran and the formerly neutral zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and on this basis and according to this border, about 40% of the existing oil and gas facilities in the field Arash-Al-Dara is located in the territorial waters of Iran. The importance of Arash field, in addition to the presence of oil and gas layers with a large amount of gas condensate, is the preservation of our country’s sovereignty over the waters of this area.
