According to IRNA, our national basketball team played its second match in the first qualifying window of the World Cup against the national team of Bahrain at 19:30 today, Monday, at the Khalifa Stadium in Bahrain, defeating its opponent 100-64.

In this match, Behnam Yakhchali was recognized as the highest scoring player on the field with 22 points. Mohammad Hassanzadeh with 17, Mohammad Jamshidi with 16 and Arsalan Kazemi with 14 points were in the next ranks.

In this game, Mostafa Hashemi sent the Iranian team to the field with the combination of Sajjad Mashayekhi, Behnam Yakhchali, Mohammad Jamshidi, Arsalan Kazemi and Mohammad Hassanzadeh. In this match, our national team was the winner of the team in all 4 quarters and succeeded in winning with the results of 24 to 17, 25 to 18, 23 to 15 and 28 to 14.

Iran’s national basketball team defeated Bahrain 82-66 in the first qualifying round of the 2023 World Cup and in a home match.

In the next step, the Iranian national basketball team will host Kazakhstan on Tuesday, March 26, and on the eighth day of this month, they will host Syria at the Azadi Complex Basketball Hall. Mustafa Hashemi’s students will also play away against Kazakhstan and Syria on July 10th and 13th of next year, respectively.

At the end of the first stage of the 2023 World Cup qualifiers, which include the first, second and third windows, the top three teams in each group will advance to the second round of the qualifiers, which includes the fourth to sixth windows.

Accordingly, 12 teams from the Asia-Pacific region will advance to the second qualifying round of the 2023 World Cup.
