Severe acne is more common in men/ what to do with pimples?

According to Fars News Agency’s health correspondent, Amirhoshang Ehsani, a dermatologist and hair specialist, in an interview with Salamat Radio, stated that acne or pimples are a process that may occur during puberty in people who have the condition. He added: Therefore, not all people get acne and several factors are necessary to cause acne. Fat and inflammation of the skin, the increase of microbes on the surface of the skin causes pimples.

He continued: A person may have dry skin; But also boil. However, this pimple may heal on its own, but in some people, it continues until old age. Hence, it is not predictable how long it will take for the boil to heal.

This skin and hair expert said that acne is not just for puberty and may not heal by itself, and continued: The important thing is that a person with acne should be more careful so that acne does not remain. Therefore, early treatment of pimples reduces the possibility of leaving pimples. Boils do not get better easily and are difficult to treat. So, pimples should be treated before they remain. Of course, in some skins, the places of pimples remain without manipulation, which is the property of the skin.

Ehsani said about the possibility of itching and acne pain: Pimples may be so inflamed and purulent that they become painful and itchy, cystic pimples become more painful. I should also say that acne has no gender, meaning that it does not differ between men and women. The prevalence of acne in both groups is equal, but severe acne is more common in men.

He added about the effectiveness of home remedies in treating acne: Some people have been affected by home remedies; But this is not always the case. Consumption of fruits, vegetables and seafood reduces boils. Stress increases acne and milk is acne-causing. People with acne should consume less milk. Fatty creams and cosmetics should be used less; Because by consuming them, the pores of the skin of a person who has acne are closed, and pimples increase with cosmetics. Washing too much does not help, and the skin should be washed moderately and lukewarm. Also, sunscreen and products for people with oily and acne prone skin should be oil-free.

In response to the question of whether facial acne is contagious, this skin and hair specialist said: Bacteria exists on the skin of all people and is not transmitted. It is not contagious in any way; But it can be genetic. This means that too much oily skin depends on genetics; Also, the most common areas for acne are the face, chest, neck and back, and rarely on the hands; Of course, pimples that appear in other areas such as thighs or buttocks are not acne and their conditions and microbial factors are different.
At the end, Ehsani stated: Oily skin does not necessarily have acne, but 90% of people who have acne have oily skin and 10% have dry skin. It is the best medicine for acne and pimples, it should be used with caution and under the supervision of a doctor, and it is contraindicated in pregnant women.
