According to Fars News Agency’s police reporter, Colonel Saeed Rasti, deputy director of operations of the Tehran Police Intelligence Organization, said regarding the shooting this morning in Vanak Square: At 11:00 a.m. today, a group of officers from the Police Intelligence Center were on a mission. They met in Vanak square.
He added: Upon seeing this scene, the officers immediately took action to arrest the suspect, and when the motorcycle thief was surrounded by the police and his motorcycle stopped, he suddenly pulled out a Colt pistol from under his clothes and started shooting at the officers.
Colonel Rasti said: The officers shot the accused in the leg following the law of using weapons, and after the armed robber fell to the ground, he was arrested before he was able to continue shooting at the officers.
This police officer stated: During the body search, a Colt handgun and a pistol were discovered from the accused.
He said: “The accused was taken to the hospital for treatment, so that after the treatment, he will be given to the judicial authority for further investigation.”
