Significant reduction in the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine against the omicron strain

According to IRNA, Reuters news agency wrote last night (December 7) that however, the immune systems of most people who received two doses of Pfizer vaccine and also developed Covid 19 disease were able to neutralize the virus. This finding suggests that booster injections can partially compensate for this immunosuppression and are effective against omicrone.

According to Reuters, although the production of antibodies reflects the reaction of the human immune system, scientists still believe that B and T lymphocytes are also stimulated by vaccination and help build immunity to the coronavirus.

Preliminary findings from the study did not indicate whether the Pfizer vaccine’s ability to prevent acute illness or death was reduced.

Although information on the efficacy of other vaccines, including Modrena, Johnson & Johnson, and Astrazenka against the Omicron strain, has not yet been released, major corona vaccine manufacturers are expected to release data in the coming weeks.

Bayon-Tech CEO Ogur Shahin told Reuters that the company’s Covid-19 vaccine would likely provide strong protection against omicrons. People are likely to have significant protection against severe omicron-induced disease.

“Over the next two weeks, laboratory tests on the blood of people who have received two or three doses of the vaccine will be analyzed to see if new vaccines are needed,” he said. The company is working to upgrade the vaccine, but they are not sure if this is necessary.

MRNA vaccines (Modern and Pfizer) have technology that allows for rapid modification. “If Omicron escapes the immunity created by the Pfizer vaccine, the company’s researchers can adapt the current vaccine in six weeks and send the initial products within 100 days,” said Pfizer spokeswoman Jerica Pitts.
