The head of the Center for Environmental and Labor Health of the Ministry of Health emphasized that our duty is to inform people about the side effects and dangers of smoking, and stated: Smoking introduces 4,000 chemicals and 400 carcinogens into the body, which is very dangerous.
Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the leading countries in the development of the law of the society for the prevention of smoking, he noted: we must move the laws in a direction that will be more effective in reducing people’s physical access to cigarettes.
While criticizing some movies, especially home network movies, Jandaghi said: Some movies broadcast on home networks are full of tobacco advertisements.
The head of the Center for Environmental and Labor Health of the Ministry of Health said: Some of the films that are broadcast on home networks are full of tobacco advertising. Please tell people which tobacco companies are the real sponsors of your movies.
Regarding movies and home channels, he said: the sequences shown in the movies have a destructive effect on the psyche of teenagers and encourage them to smoke.
The head of the Environment and Work Health Center of the Ministry of Health noted: It is regrettable to announce that some of these movies and home theater movies even teach the youth and teenagers how to use tobacco and drugs. We request the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to diligently enter into the content of these films and prevent their promotion and dissemination in cultural products.
Jandaghi also pointed to the sale of tobacco products in supermarkets and hypermarkets and clarified that: “Shakeel’s tobacco stands in stores are a stimulus for demand, and in an urgent measure, the sale of cigarettes in the form of strings should be banned in stores.”
The head of the Center for Environmental and Occupational Health of the Ministry of Health stated that education, information, awareness and social influence are four very important ways to prevent smoking.
