Social harms of Atabak neighborhood of Tehran / request to form a special working group

According to Fars News Agency’s urban correspondent, Zahra Shams Ehsan, a member of the Tehran City Council, said in a reminder about the legal issues and problems and social harms of Atabak neighborhood in the courtyard of the city council today: In the 15th district of Tehran, it was planned with a social and human perspective to encourage the residents of the neighborhood to stay in the same neighborhood.
He added: “In this project, which included 20 urban blocks, the residents received a new house instead of a dilapidated house, instead of receiving cash from the ownership of their property by the municipality.” Thus, in the lands facing the same street where the project was implemented, new houses were built along a ridge, and after the temporary accommodation of the residents of the dilapidated buildings in the newly built houses, the demolition and renovation of the dilapidated buildings began.
The member of Tehran City Council continued: “However, with the emergence of legal challenges in the following years, the issuance of documents for new properties was not possible and serious restrictions arose for the transfer of real estate in the area, which after more than a decade of residence in New homes, this problem still persists, and today the assignment of 1,200 communal plots is one of the main demands of the residents from the city administration that implemented the project.
Shams Ehsan said: “On the other hand, during the implementation of this project, a lot of properties have been acquired by the Tehran Municipality, and now about 120 properties have been abandoned or unused lands in the neighborhood have caused all kinds of social anomalies, and also Due to the lack of a police station in the neighborhood, there is serious insecurity in the area. In such a way that even during the day, people are free to buy and sell and use drugs in the neighborhood. The combination of these factors has caused a severe recession in the economic value of real estate in this neighborhood, which leads to the unwillingness of investors to invest in renovating the worn-out fabric of the area, a lack of sense of belonging to the texture and a crisis of social and institutional distrust.
He stated: Considering that the current situation of this neighborhood is not in any way honorable for the residents and also the image of Tehran metropolis as Umm al-Qura of the Islamic world, hereby reminding the mayor of Tehran I request to pursue solving the problems of the residents with the originality of this Prioritize the area by forming a special working group and pave the way for the return of identity and the value of housing to this neighborhood, which was formed in the vicinity of the holy shrine of Imamzadeh Seyyed Malek Khatoon.
