Bring to the second job.

The head of the society of internal medicine specialists in Iran said: livelihood problems and low income of doctors have increased their migration. A large number of doctors and specialists have also left medicine and turned to other professions. The situation of young doctors is worse and most of them do not have the possibility to get married and provide housing.

He said: Every doctor must pay 50 to 60 million tomans per month for office rent, water and electricity, taxes, insurance, and salary of secretary and employee, while he does not have such income.

Khosroniya said: In such a situation, most doctors are forced to have a second or third job in addition to practicing medicine in order to be able to cover their living expenses. Unfortunately, many general, internal, infectious and pediatric doctors have seriously faced financial problems and their incomes are not enough to continue living.

The head of the society of internal medicine specialists in Iran continued: The financial situation of doctors is so bad that some doctors have come to the conclusion to close their offices and establish coffee shops or barber shops instead.

Khosroniya continued: The living conditions for doctors have become very dire. We have doctors who travel. A number of doctors have left the profession of medicine and turned to other professions. Some have been built and sold, even some of them have turned to traveling or selling dollars.

He continued: “The income of doctors compared to employees and workers has grown much less in the last decade, and accordingly the interest in working in the field of medicine has disappeared in the country.” Most of the doctors have to live with a small income and have to pay a lot of money to the tax office and personnel insurance every year.

Migration of more than 10 thousand doctors from the country

He said: Many doctors, even specialist doctors, have migrated from the country due to financial problems. In the last three years, about 10,000 to 12,000 doctors have emigrated from the country.

Khosroniya added: These problems have caused that, although a large number of medical students have been trained and graduated in the country in recent years, and the capacity of medical fields has become more than usual, we are still facing a shortage of doctors in most regions of the country. If the authorities do not act to solve these problems as soon as possible, the future of the country’s medicine and people’s health will face very serious risks.
