A Taliban commander was killed in an attack on a military hospital in the Afghan capital, Kabul, a Taliban source said.

“Hamdallah, the commander of the Kabul Army Corps, was killed in an ISIL attack,” the source said, according to Sputnik.

Hamdullah Mukhlis is the commander of the Taliban in Kabul.

Today, according to eyewitnesses, a group of suicide bombers entered a hospital building in Kabul and clashed with Taliban forces.

An eyewitness to the incident said that an explosion took place near a hospital in Kabul. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a 400-bed hospital near the Ministry of Public Health. The terrorist group ISIS (banned in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attack.

In early August, the Taliban launched rapid attacks on Afghan government positions and occupied all parts of the country, including the capital, by early autumn. On the night of August 31, the US military left Kabul airport, ending a nearly 20-year US military presence in Afghanistan.

After that, the Taliban formed an interim government. The cabinet was headed by Mohammad Hassan Akhund, who served as foreign minister during the first term of the Taliban government and has been under UN sanctions since 2001.
