According to the Mehr news agency, quoting Anatoly, the spokesman of the UN Secretary General welcomed the talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

According to the report, Stephen Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, welcomed the talks between Tehran and Riyadh, describing them as important.

“Consultation between Saudi Arabia and Iran is very important and very critical for the security of the region,” he said.

Meanwhile, the US Special Representative for Iran wrote in a message on his Twitter page: “We hope that the dialogue between Riyadh and Tehran will help reduce tensions and address long-term regional concerns.”

Robert Mali, the US government’s special envoy for Iran, on Monday evening (Tehran time) welcomed Saudi Arabia’s claim to hold direct talks with the new government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by Ayatollah Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi, Mehr news agency reported, quoting Al Jazeera. .

“We hope the dialogue between Riyadh and Tehran will help reduce tensions and address long-term regional concerns,” the US special envoy to Iran wrote in a Twitter message welcoming the move.

Earlier, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held a press conference with the EU foreign policy chief on various issues, including Iran.

Faisal bin Farhan said that Saudi Arabia’s relations with the European Union are deep and historic: “In an interview with Borrell, I emphasized Saudi Arabia’s position on Iran’s nuclear program.”

“We are deeply concerned about Iran’s transgression, and it contradicts the peace plan that Iran is pursuing. He told Borrell that Saudi Arabia supports efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon,” he said.

Bin Farhan also stressed: “Dialogues with Iran are still in the preliminary stage and we hope that it will cover the disputed issues.”

In addition, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Minister said today (Monday, October 4) in a press conference with Iranian and foreign journalists on Iran-Saudi Arabia relations that the two sides have held several rounds of talks in Baghdad. “We have discussed issues of mutual interest and regional issues, and we hope to be in a position to have frank and honest talks with our friends in Saudi Arabia,” he said. Khatibzadeh said: “I think if (positions) change, the negotiations will be accompanied by favorable results.”
