Tehran Municipality’s request to delegate the authority to organize working children

Ahmad Ahmadi Sadr, CEO of Tehran Municipality’s Social Services and Partnerships Organization, in an interview with Fars News Agency’s social harms reporter, regarding the latest situation of working children in the capital, said: Tehran Municipality is not in charge of organizing the situation of working and street children. Since last year, we have announced that we will eradicate the problem of working children within a period of 3 years, if the legal authority to organize “Kodekan Work and Street” is handed over to Tehran Municipality.

He stated that we held about 10 expert meetings with more than 40 groups of experts, public institutions, NGOs, etc. under the social headquarters of the metropolis of Tehran. It will be handed over to Tehran Municipality and the necessary funds and infrastructure will be provided, we will organize this matter.

The secretary of the social headquarters of Tehran city continued by emphasizing that currently the welfare organization is in charge of organizing the situation of working and street children. Due to the holding of important meetings and examinations held under the social headquarters of Tehran, we can complete the project of finding talent and empowering these children through the dynamic schools of Tehran Municipality.

The CEO of the Welfare, Services and Social Partnerships Organization of Tehran Municipality noted that since the new city administration started its activities, a detailed design has been considered for working and vulnerable children. In addition to scientific education, Pooyasher centers also provide other services to students.

According to Ahmadi Sadr, children’s education and presence in Puyashahr centers not only changes the status of working children and their organization, but also brings changes in the family environment and the appearance of the city.

He added: If we agree to the request to hand over the legal authority to organize street and work children to Tehran Municipality, we will eradicate this problem.
It should be noted that identifying, organizing and inviting to social activities, helping children’s education, working to improve their education and helping the livelihood of children and families in need with the participation of benefactors are among the actions that take place in “Poyashahr” centers.
