Telegram download statistics on Google Play exceeded 1 billion

Experience has shown that loyalty to apps has its limits, and the recent shutdown of Facebook services has led many of the company’s users to move to competing services, including Telegram. The same issue brought Telegram download statistics in the Google Play Store to more than 1 billion.

Facebook servers have had a lot of ups and downs in the last month, leaving many users frustrated with the company’s services. As a result, a large group of users switched to alternative services, and Telegram was one of the big winners That was it.

Pavel Durov, CEO of Telegram, says that the messenger was able to attract about 70 million new users during the downtime of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp services. Therefore, the number of Telegram application downloads has also increased significantly. The Play Store last night finally updated the Telegram download statistics and announced that this application has been downloaded and installed more than 1 billion times so far.

Of course, this statistic is not equal to the number of active users of Telegram, because the latest surveys show that this application had about 550 million active users by August 2021. This number indicates a 175% increase in the number of Telegram users from 2018. The platform has attracted 350 million new users in the last three and a half years alone.

Telegram was launched in 2013 and its users have increased by an average of 40% every year. According to Apptopia, the service now has about 55.2 million active users daily on iOS and Android. This application is the seventh most popular non-gaming application in the Play Store. According to Hootsuite, every Android Telegram user spends an average of 2.9 hours a month on this app. This is an average of 2.7 hours for Facebook Messenger.

Facebook last moved many users to Telegram by changing WhatsApp privacy rules. But this time it seems that the fatigue of repeated interruptions of services has led users to these messengers.
