According to Fars News Agency’s health group, Mustafa Jamali, the CEO of the Blood Transfusion Organization, in a message congratulated this community on the arrival of the World Thalassemia Day and added: providing the necessary and suitable blood for thalassemia loved ones is the goal of an important part of the activities of the Blood Transfusion Organization. By providing 100% of the blood they need, this organization has helped to increase the life expectancy of these patients until middle age.
Jamali added: Thalassemia patients are the biggest consumers of blood. Currently, in many countries of the world, it is not possible to provide healthy and sufficient blood for loved ones with thalassemia, but fortunately, we have crossed these limits for many years in our country and are looking to provide specialized and special services. We want these loved ones to receive the blood they need with the best quality and the least complications.
Referring to the provision of filtered blood bags to prepare low leukocyte blood and reduce the complications after blood transfusion for these loved ones, he said: Currently, 20% of the blood received is used by thalassemia patients and supporting specialized blood transfusion services will lead to A better approach should be opened to this group of society.
