The 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Africa will be held/ review of three cases from Iran



According to Arya Heritage, the Republic of Botswana, a country in South Africa, will host the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which will be held from December 13 to 18, 1402 in Kasan city.

The opening ceremony of this meeting is scheduled for today, Sunday, December 3, 2023 (equivalent to December 12, 1402). The meeting will be chaired by Mustaq Murad, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Botswana to UNESCO.

An information exchange meeting was held at UNESCO headquarters, Paris, on 2 October 2023 to present the Committee’s working methods as well as practical information about the meeting.

In this meeting, there are three cases from Iran, which are iftar and its socio-cultural ceremony (jointly with Azerbaijan, Turkey and Uzbekistan), the art of gilding (jointly with Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan) and the century celebration (jointly with Tajikistan). also be considered for registration in the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List.
