According to the education reporter of Fars news agency, The ceremony of starting the executive operation of connecting the schools to the fiber optic project was held in the presence of Reza Murad Sahrai, Acting Minister of Education and Issa Zarepour, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, in Hamdani Primary School.
In this ceremony, the memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the high-speed connection of the country’s schools through fiber optics was signed by Sahrai and Zarepour.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, 20 million households in the country will be covered by the optical fiber plan by the end of the 13th government.

He pointed to the Internet in the villages and continued: From the point of view of Internet coverage in the rural area, we have reached more than 90% in villages with 20 households and we hope to see 100% coverage in villages with more than 20 households.
Lajordi added: Internet coverage in the urban area is 41%, and of course we are lagging behind in quality, but with fiber optic connection, we will see 20 million households with internet coverage and speed quality.
The head of the Radio Communications Regulatory Organization of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said: By the end of the 13th government, all urban schools will be connected to fiber optics.
Reza Murad Sahrai, Acting Minister of Education, also said in this program: This important action means the start of connecting Iranian households to fiber optics from schools, promising attention to the school and the future makers of the country.
Expressing his satisfaction with the introduction of the Internet to all schools, he continued: This action showed that it is possible to reduce the distance between dreams and actions with jihadi work, and now post-coronavirus developments can be implemented in schools.
Referring to the digital divide, Sahrai said: connecting schools to optical fiber will solve the digital divide. Of course, we do not have enough digital facilities for schools, but due to the lack of infrastructure, it has not been removed from the big cities, but with this measure, everywhere in Iran has become the capital, and the distance between the capital and other cities has decreased, and it is a sign of justice.
Isa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said in this ceremony: “With the efforts of my colleagues, we have been able to advance the optical fiber infrastructure within 3 years, and we are trying to reach the predicted figure to 40-50% by the end of the year, and by the end of the 13th government, 20 Million households will be covered by fiber optics.
Stating that we are looking for high-speed and high-quality internet infrastructure, he added: So far, we have connected 4,000 villages to the internet in the 13th government, and there are 3,000 villages left that we are trying to do quickly.
Zarepour added: We have planned that 10, 15 schools will be connected to optical fiber by the end of September. Also, by the end of the year, 35 percent of schools and by the end of the 13th government, all schools should be connected to fiber optics.
He pointed to the provision of the national window of smart government services and added: We are trying to provide all the services of the national window to the people by the end of the year. I have seen the names of all four of my children who need to prepare books for them on this site and the possibility of online registration of textbooks is available for people along with 3000 other services. We ask the Ministry of Education to connect other educational services to this window. For example, I wanted to see my children’s report card, and God willing, within the next month, all education services will be connected to this window.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology said: Next Wednesday, we will witness the start of fiber optic operations in 100 cities, and by the end of the second, 20 million households will be connected to fiber optics.
