The sixth Fajr Festival of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts was inaugurated at noon today, Tuesday, February 10, 2014, in the presence of Pouya Mahmoudian, Deputy Minister of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts, Ali Asghar Shalbafian, Deputy Minister of Tourism, and Mohammad Hossein Imani Khoshkhoo, Advisor to the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Mazandaran, Isfahan and Tehran are the most active provinces present

Explaining the holding of the 6th Fajr Festival of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts, Pouya Mahmoudian said: “After the pathologies performed, an attempt was made to hold the 6th Festival with a different perspective and approach. “The call for the presence of 31 provinces was made public and private, and some provinces, including Mazandaran, Isfahan and Tehran, had a more active presence in this period.”

Exhibition of 320 works by artists from all over the country

Referring to the submission of 570 works to the festival, he added: “The judging was done in two stages. “Initially, the works were selected through the submitted photos, and then the judges selected 320 works to be selected for the festival.”

Mahmoudian emphasized the emphasis on works and applied designs along with aesthetic features, as well as works that have won the seal of national authenticity this year as the two main differences between this period of the festival and the previous five, and added: “With the aim of identifying and honoring the remnants of your veterans, professors and elites who continue the path of artists, it has been put on the agenda in order to preserve the field.”

Noting that each artist is present in the festival with a maximum of three works, he added: “It was not possible for the works that participated in the previous Fajr festivals to be present in this period. “In the end, six craftsmen will win the Simin Sarv and six will receive the honorary diploma of the sixth Fajr Festival of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts.”

“The beauty, creativity and elegance created by the young artists has attracted the attention of all visitors since the opening hours, and we hope that the sixth festival will be a new chapter of impressive events for the festival,” Mahmoudian concluded. “Be the stakeholders in this area.”

The magnificent works of the festival can be used in accommodation centers

Shalbafian praised the works presented at the festival, adding: “The initiative taken by the Deputy Minister of Handicrafts to display the works of artists on an annual basis is commendable.”

Emphasizing the importance of more interaction between handicrafts and tourism, the Deputy Minister of Tourism said: “The more interaction between the field of tourism and handicrafts will make the cooperation of activists in the two fields clearer and more transparent.”

Show Iranian culture in tourism centers through the works of artists

“Some of the works on display at the festival can be used in traditional hotels and other accommodation centers,” Shalbafian said. “The better the Iranian culture is shown in tourist centers, the more it will definitely be noticed by domestic and foreign tourists.”

The Deputy Minister of Tourism also advised all tourism activists, especially the owners of tourism facilities, to visit the festival and the works on display.

Among the works present in the festival can be metalwork, gilding, mosaic, kilim, gilding on metal, fine weaving, lacquering, carpentry and engraving, engraving, stone engraving, batik printing, gilding, embroidery, inlay, ceramic, lattice, engraving , Tapestry, wooden structures, metal, kilim, windshield, metal volumes, jewelry, painting on fabric, needlework.

The sixth Fajr Festival of Handicrafts and Traditional Arts will be held in the National Museum from February 7 to 10.
