The call for the 39th Tehran International Short Film Festival was published by the Iranian Youth Cinema Association, and according to it, this event will be held in Tehran from October 18 to November 2, 1401.

Theater News Base: The 39th Tehran International Short Film Festival will be held in order to identify and introduce the best short films at the national and international levels and to create cultural justice in all parts of the country, as well as constructive competition between filmmakers.

Films that create diversity and multiplicity in the short film space through cinematic genres will be of special importance in this festival. Also, paying attention to local cinema with emphasis on creativity and innovation is a priority in selection and judging.

Regulations of the 39th Tehran International Short Film Festival

The Iranian Youth Cinema Association is holding the “39th Tehran International Short Film Festival” in order to identify and introduce the best national and international short films and create cultural justice in all parts of the country.

Films that create diversity and multiplicity in the short film space through cinematic genres are of special importance in this festival. Oh you Will enjoy. Also, paying attention to local cinema with emphasis on creativity and innovation is a priority in selection and judging.

D- Strengthen the short film supply cycle by providing domestic and foreign marketing

E- Expanding and attracting short film audiences

Festival sections:

Tehran Short Film Festival is held in two sections: Iranian cinema and international cinema.

A: Iranian cinema

All short films produced (from 1400 until now) within the framework of the festival goals with a maximum time of 30 minutes and in a variety of fiction, documentary, experimental and animation genres can be present in this section.

(The works in this section must have been produced after the winter of 1399 (beginning of 2021) and have not been shown in any other festival in Iran.)

General conditions for participating in the national section of the Tehran International Short Film Festival

1) The participation of all filmmakers, institutions, government organizations and private sector producers is free.

2) Note: Registration and uploading of works in the festival only to شیوۀ Internet is possible. Therefore, it is necessary for the applicants to complete the application form for participating in the festival by visiting the site www.festival.iycs.ir and then upload the film file.

3) Format های Accepted for uploading the work: MP4 (H.264) and HEVC (H.265), and the maximum file size is 1000 MB.

4) Filmmakers whose films will enter the competition section, must send the original version of the film to the festival secretariat within 5 working days after announcing the winners, according to the technical conditions announced in the section “Technical conditions of the works obtained”. In case of Secretariat delay Can delete the movie.

5) Films that enter the competition section must have English subtitles.

6) Send a teaser in MPG4 format; A maximum of one minute and a size of 25 MB is required with the movie version.

7) Films that enter the competition section will receive a certificate of participation in the festival.

8) Films that do not meet the required technical standards will be removed from the competition section at the discretion of the festival secretariat.

9) After the films are sent to the festival, it will not be possible to remove the works from the festival program.

10) The final decision on unforeseen cases that are not included in the current regulations or ambiguities arising from its provisions and changes in some regulations, is with the festival secretary.

11) The producer of the work or his legal representative, by sending a film to the “Tehran International Short Film Festival”, gives full permission and authority to show selected films, regardless of profit and financial aspects, and for educational use, especially in the offices and agencies of the association. Iranian youth cinema throughout the country in the form of short film hangouts and deprives itself of the right to protest in this regard.

12) If the script of your work is an adaptation, please check the relevant option and specify the source of the adaptation.

13) If you want to display your work online when registering, please specify the relevant option.

14) Completing the application form to participate in the festival will mean accepting all the announced rules.

15) All works submitted to the competition section will be required to have a screening license from the Deputy of Cinema Supervision and Evaluation, and the screening of these works will be done by the Secretariat of the 39th Tehran International Short Film Festival.

Technical conditions of the works submitted to the competition section:

All submitted works should be submitted to the festival secretariat only as a data file.

The works must be delivered to the festival office in one of the Full HD-HDV pieces and necessarily with the characteristics of 24p-25p or 50i frames with a minimum volume of 750 Mb and a maximum of 4 Gb.

Important Note:

Owners of works produced by the method of surround sound (5.1) can submit the relevant version along with the stereo version to the festival secretariat.

• Obviously, due to the frequency of works and time constraints, miscellaneous formats or files with bugs will not be included in the selection of works.

• Technical subtitle requirements: English subtitles of works must be integrated with the image itself (Merge); It is also recommended to use Arial black font size 36 with yellow color and black border (Stroke) for all works.

• The results of the review will be announced only through the dedicated site of the festival.

Attention: It is emphasized that “the deadline for registration and uploading of works has not been extended in any way and the registration site will be closed at the announced date.”
