The director of the series “Snow is falling silently”

Some actors are wary of working in television. It’s up to them whether they have the right or wrong guard, but this guard exists.

Theater News Base: 6 movies and 2 series is not a high statistic for a 40-year-old director who made his first film at the age of 25. But if we know that one of these series, which is broadcast tonight on Channel 3, is about 100 episodes, then the story will be different. Pouria Azarbayjani is the director of the series “Snow is Falling Silently”, which was originally supposed to be produced in 250 episodes and was called the “longest” series in the history of television, but apparently more than 100 episodes are not ready and its screenwriter was Massoud Behbahaninia. He died and now it remains to be seen what will happen to this series. The Azerbaijani series is compared to the “Kimya” series by a co-producer and writer. We talked to him about the similarities and differences between this series and Kimia, as well as the different role of the family in his series.

It was said that “Snow is Falling Silently” is the longest series in the history of television. Is this title correct?

The day I was supposed to start the series, the producer offered it based on 250 episodes, but later what happened in production and broadcasting was that we were supposed to make 200 episodes first and the TV decided to broadcast it. Given the decision they made to air the first episode, I do not know what’s basically going on.

How many episodes did you make?

We have 94 parts of the text for the first part, which is complete, and we are filming, and I think it will be over by the end of the year. These 94 parts of the text may be several parts longer. For the next part, I think Behbahania wrote another 69 episodes, which unfortunately died and we do not know what will happen.

Will this series be aired after Eid?

I do not know whether the TV will continue broadcasting this series on Nowruz or not.

It has a series for Nowruz and then a series for Ramadan, which means that it is possible that the series for Ramadan will be your series. If such a distance falls for the serial broadcast, the work will be hit.

My opinion is the same. The day they decided to broadcast the work must go to the end. It is not good to give in the middle of the off because we do not have an off in the story. There is no place in the story to end, so I think it’s better to play it back and forth.

After the “Yellow Ribbon” series, this series is considered a risk for a young person like you with this number of episodes, meaning that this volume of work has a lot of characters, numerous sub-narratives, and I know you have a risk-taking spirit, and working with Shafi’i and the late Behbahania has already been experienced. What was your concern and how attractive was the script to you? Or did you just want to challenge yourself?

The discussion was not about challenging myself because when I accept a project, I basically think I have the ability to accept it, and I thought about it in advance. There were two things I thought were important about this particular project; One is that the main topic of this series is the family, that is, the disappearance of the family for various reasons. It is very important to me. The most important wealth I have is my family. For me, my wife and son are more important than cinema, television, literature, and so on. I felt that this series was necessary and I communicated with it and I could make it well. The offer I was given to make this series was from someone I had worked with before, that is, I worked with at least one other series and I trusted him. I felt it was possible to co-produce and produce well. These two reasons made me do this.

Although the genre was different?

Look at my movies, I usually did what I felt I liked and needed to do at the time, like I made Holy Defense and Romance and I did crime movies.

The point is, I do not limit myself to being a filmmaker of the genre. I really feel like I have to relate to a situation that is basically important to me and then move on to working in that field of film. Each of the films I made tells me exactly why I worked, and certainly none of the motives were financial.

According to the commonalities that exist, the series “Snowfall Silently” is compared to the series “Kimia”. Producer and writer and the number of episodes are common, but Kimia is person-centered and we face the person and his story, but in the snow we see the family story. Not everything is going to be a nightmare, that is, we are going from 20 to 8-7 and 4, and I think this is more interesting in drama. Concepts such as greed, greed, etc. that can disrupt any set are involved. This is the main difference between snow and alchemy. There is this analogy and you may have noticed from the feedback.

Yes. It is true. There is definitely an analogy, and the reason for the large number of episodes is the similarity of the author and the producer. I’m not very dissatisfied either, meaning I do not think I’m satisfied or dissatisfied. Basically, I’m not looking to think about what we’re being compared to now and what we’re not being compared to. What is very important to me is that if this story was chosen by me because it is family-oriented, and my point is that I want to do everything I can to make anyone who thinks they have a disturbed view of the family come back and see what is missing. Takes.

We see serials outside of Iran where the family is small and in some places they are careless, but the families that we see here are again the families that we saw before and its roots. You mention somewhere that such things happen if the elder is not in the family or the elder confuses his position. Some people who are enemies can take advantage of this situation. The audience likes this too. She loves both drama and family. Something we rarely see in other series.

Exactly. It has a completely external value. I even tried that the form of the narrative performance should not be a strange one, but it should be very close to the realistic performance, and the games should not be weird that do not go beyond the realm of reality, and the narration has a completely external value. Look around you, you will find a lot of these stories, and there is a common concept in it, which is family, and we have had a lot of problems with this concept in our country since the 1960s.

The historical period you have chosen is for the post-war period. You stay in the same space. That is, we are in the years 67 to 70?

This is not the whole story. Add another section until we go to the late 90’s. This is what we see now. The historical period was not my choice, but the choice of Behbahani, and then Shafi’i chose it as the producer of this period. This passage is also interesting to me for several reasons; My childhood is over and I have a strange nostalgia for it. I like this period and I think it was a space and years when people were having a good time together, despite the war and the hardships and small size of the tables.

People were better now. The atmosphere was not much like it is now, for example, we stood in line for the phone, but the people were fine.

Exactly. People were better off today. Another point is that the 60s are the decades that later became very influential in the process that takes place in society. Because the war has just ended and some infrastructure has been destroyed and some new things have to be built. Some people will be eliminated and new people will want to position themselves as the owner of something and so on. In the meantime, some fake people were found. As if to say I was too.

They put themselves in the place of arithmetic people.

Yes. As Habib behaves in the story. For this reason, the story that takes place is all the same with the decades that take place, that is, they both do the same thing, that is, they are the right container.

The basis of what we are facing now is laid at that time.

Absolutely so. The 60’s are a very important decade because the war is over and a lot of damage is done and construction starts and money enters the economic infrastructure and people taste the money and new and emerging characters are gradually allowed to show off and this is what we are seeing now.

It is not a political series. More melodrama.

The series is not political at all. The series is the story of a family and this is the reality. Basically, the appeal of the text to me was that it is not a political series.

Even if it has political ironies.

Yes. The charm of the series for me was the focus of the family. However, it is clear what events took place in history in the 1960s, and there are certainly parts of it in the story.

Another point is about the age of the characters. We mention the character of Reza Roigari and the courtier.

In fact, it is a mistake that some viewers may have been careless with. When we talk about Parviz’s father, which is about Reza Roigari, we see the early 40s, not the 50s!

It’s appropriate for the audience to be talking about ’57, not ’50s!

Although we express history. The actor says it is the early 40’s. The viewer goes to the early 50’s because the closest thing to his mind is the 50’s. If this is not the case, it means that if they look a little closer, it is the early 1940s and political adventures are taking place, and for this reason, the children who gather together do not have Islamic beliefs. There are probably Muslim children among them, and probably all the models of political orientation that could be established at that time.

For the 40s. Can you explain in the series?

Yes. Ravigri section is for the 40’s, when Parviz sent the same times and Parviz came back in 1957 with an older age of 17-17 years and left again and now he is back again.

It is normal that he is 28-27 years old. The audience thought that this 57-56 came into the world and how it is now.

Yes. In that section we talk about the 1940s. Another thing about the characters that I like to say is that a lot of people told me why the age of the actors was chosen that way. For example, Ms. Abdolrazaghi and Ms. Shirazi are mentioned. The first day we started we were going to go so far as to choose the characters to be 10-12 years younger and 15-20 years older. We made choices so that aging would not be a disaster on their faces, like many series that I will not name, and later became ridiculous. We tried not to let this happen to our project. People do not know whether the second part is going to be made or not, but our conditions were like this and the actors were selected based on those conditions. This is in addition to the technical quality because I am very satisfied with the technical quality and I think everything is excellent.

This cast is both different and complete.

It is true. We seem to have had good choices. Here, too, people have a right to know that we should have chosen people who could age 15-15 years later, if the next season is made.

That is, they can answer the 60s to 90s.

Exactly.

Have you had to choose an actor? Was this the choice from the beginning or was it a place to say no one, so let’s work with this actor?

I did not have to, but every time you start a project, many times you can definitely move forward with a mentality that does not happen in production. Various reasons, including financial issues, are the reasons why actors plan to live. Some actors are wary of working in television. It’s up to them whether they have the right or wrong guard, but this guard exists. In all respects, this is what the choices are about. As I speak today, if I were to have a choice again today, I would choose the same people. Because I think everyone did their job well and everyone went right and we worked together. To say that exactly all the actors were my first choice is not true. If I say this, I am lying, but they were very close to my mental choices.

I’m talking about the name of the series. That it snows silently can turn into an avalanche somewhere and can turn into a storm somewhere. Does this choice come from here? Sometimes the snow gradually freezes. You mean?

This is exactly it. It is the same night when you sleep and wake up in the morning and see that the street is snowy. In fact, the argument is that we are not careful, it is not that we necessarily and intentionally ruin our lives, that we intentionally hurt each other. It is not our senses and sometimes we choose wrongly and sometimes we want to do good, but we do not know how to do good. A thousand stories make our lives gradually blurred and the events that were valuable to us are gradually lost and forgotten. The story of the snow falls silently is this, that it happens quietly and everything is covered without our senses.
