The display of Google maps for Iranian users was blocked on websites

Surveys of cyberspace users show that Google has blocked the display of maps on websites for Iranian IPs.

This means that if a website has used a Google map on its page, this map will not be displayed for users with an IP address in Iran.

According to Aetna’s report from Mehr, Iranians’ access to many other services and capabilities of Google was also blocked before this.

Removal and discrimination in Google Play was also applied to Iranian applications. In recent years, this app store has removed and restricted Iranian applications and platforms in the fields of routing, banking and finance, and online shopping, under the pretext of sanctions and compliance with the laws of its country (USA).

Not long ago, one of the managers of Google announced that the reason why Iranian users do not have access to the services of this company is the action of the US Foreign Investment Control Office to force the companies to comply with the sanctions. The Office of Foreign Investment Control tracks companies that do not do enough to locate their users to comply with sanctions. Therefore, it is expected that more technology companies will be forced to close their services for Iranian users.

The application of Google’s sanctions policies against Iranian users continues while according to the statistics previously provided by the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, Google earns hundreds of billions of Tomans in Iran annually, but practically 44% of all services of this service provider are for the country. We are blocked and in the meantime 100% of the services needed by developers and businesses are not accessible in Iran.

It has been said that 63% of Google services in the field of operating system, 63% in the field of business advertising, and 38% in the field of analytical statistics are not available to Iranian people.

Experts’ survey also shows that Iranian users depend on Google API in more than 99% of basic services, and removing Iranian applications and restricting access to them is a warning sign for Iranian businesses and disables the development of virtual space technologies, which should be It thought.

It seems that the only way to break this dependence is to create independence in the basic service layer of the national information network infrastructure; A topic that is emphasized in the National Information Network Architecture and Master Plan document.

Of course, technology sanctions against Iran are not only related to Google, and other companies such as Apple have also blocked the access of Iranian IPs to many services due to compliance with the cruel US sanctions against Iran.

This is despite the fact that some time ago, during the riots and unrest in Iran, the American government announced in support of the riots that it had lifted the sanctions in the field of information technology for the country of Iran so that the people of Iran could benefit from technological services.
