According to Fars News Agency’s music correspondent, Kurdistan music artist Hassan Yousefokhani spoke about his experience of attending the 14th Regional Music Festival of Iran.

This singer and daf musician said in an interview with a Fars reporter: I was the first to participate in the music festival of the regions of Iran and I must say that I saw the fourteenth period with very high quality and the generality of this event was satisfactory. Thank God I was satisfied with our performance and the reception, accommodation and hosting of the festival was good. I just wish we had more time to attend the festival.

He continued: “The groups that participated in the 14th festival this year had a good quality level, and one of the features of this period was the diversity of colors and the wide cultural and musical spectrum of this event, which we saw artists from all over Iran.” The planning was meticulous and the details were met. The recording and performance were better than in previous periods due to the prevalence of corona. Perhaps if the festival had been held indoors, the quality of the performances would have been technically higher, but given the epidemic conditions, it seemed more sensible to choose the outdoor space.

In another part of his speech, Yousefkhani said: “We saw all the Iranian tribes on stage at this event, and it was really interesting for me to see different performances and local instruments from each region.” I met a lot of artists and veterans, and we got numbered and numbered, and in some cases we even had discussions about joint performances. One of the main reasons that my servant, friend and colleague attended this festival was that it was not a competitive festival. Because whenever the atmosphere of such festivals becomes competitive, there is a feeling of injustice, and the fact is that it is interesting to me that when a festival works in a non-competitive atmosphere and in this style, there are still criticisms from all corners that should be taken into consideration. The conditions and quality of the festival will get better and better for the coming years. Certainly, the continuous improvement of the festivals is achieved from the heart of these criticisms and criticisms, and if the festival officials address these issues, the festival will surely have a good quality.

He explained about the quality of the performances and his perception of the level of ability of the artists of the Iranian Regional Music Festival: “However, I believe that this year we saw quality performances on stage and used renowned professors who were invited to the festival.” This year, we saw young talented artists and veteran masters on stage together.

Yousefkhani in response to the question of whether he agrees with the internationalization of this festival or not? He said: “Our country is a vast country and has a variety of cultures in its heart, and I do not think we need to think about the internationalization of the regional music festival at the moment.” Despite the fact that the internationalization of this event raises the level of the festival, for example, we, the Kurds of Iran, our music is not much different from the music of Iraqi Kurdistan. Or, for example, the music of Sistan and Baluchestan is very close to the music of Afghanistan, but if there is such a perspective, it can be considered auspicious. But I believe that a national festival is of better quality than an international festival.

He said that it would be better to extend the duration of the festival, he said: “We were only present in the festival space for two days and we would have liked to stay in this space more and see the performance of other friends and finally more experience exchange.” For example, one night on the sidelines of the festival, we played with Ahwazi friends and filmed on our mobile phones, and it is interesting to know that this video was met with a great response in cyberspace and news pages in Kurdistan. Of course, better things will happen if the festival time is longer and the groups go on stage in perfect harmony.
