The old architecture of Urmia is being revived
According to the report of Arya Heritage, citing the public relations of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of West Azerbaijan, Behnam Samadi, the president and some members of Urmia Architects and Urban Planning Engineers Guild met and talked with Morteza Safari, the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of West Azerbaijan.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of West Azerbaijan stated in this meeting that in recent decades no special architectural style and method can be observed in Urmia.
Safari added: For this purpose, by reviving the historical architecture of Urmia, unity of procedure should be created in construction.
Referring to the necessity of revitalizing the historical context, he continued: In this regard, the condition for the repair and reconstruction of the existing buildings in the historical context of Urmia is to comply with the rules of cultural heritage and to revive the historical wall construction.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of West Azarbaijan said: Urmia Architecture and Urban Planning Association can be very effective in fulfilling the inherent mission of this General Administration, and with mutual thinking and cooperation, great steps can be taken to restore the historical context and restore historical buildings.
Safari stated: One of the common areas can be holding the element design competition for the entrance roads of the cities of the province and the implementation of the sidewalk of Imam Street in Urmia.
In this meeting, Tohid Alinejad, the first secretary of the Islamic Council of Urmia city, while announcing the readiness of the city council to cooperate and participate with the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of West Azerbaijan, noted that the most important point for the protection of historical monuments and the restoration of the historical context is to use the capacity of the people. Because unless people are willing to work, it is not possible to achieve much success in this field.
The head of Urmia Architects and Urban Planning Engineers Union said in this meeting: Today, attention to historical contexts and its protection is of high importance compared to the preservation of a single historical building, because if the historical context is preserved, the historical architecture can also be gradually expanded.
Behnam Samadi added: With its 16-year history, this association is ready for any cooperation in common fields, informing people about the need to revive the historical context, holding various competitions, etc.
