The CEO of the Youth Cinema Association noted: In our investigations, we found out that Iran is one of the countries that has a major contribution in sending works to the world’s short film festivals. Every year, more than two thousand short films are made in our country, which is a very important and worthy number, but the viewing platforms for these film products in our country are very limited. One of our policies and goals in the association is to develop these platforms and actions such as producing a special television program for short films called “Young Cinema” on the documentary network, trying to increase the share of short films in art and experience screenings and setting up hangouts The short film of the association has taken place to the point that today it is held regularly in 56 offices of these hangouts and selected short films are sent to all parts of Iran.

He added: In the continuation of the same path, we tried to have a wider interaction with the platforms and recently our interactions with Filmnet led to the online screening of short films, which I consider a happy event and even if it does not bring economic benefits to short cinema, it is worthy of respect. And the character of the short film helps.

He pointed out: Investigating whether the release of short films can bring economic benefits for the producers of works and for short cinema as a whole needs time. For my part, I have a positive view of this happening at this stage and I am grateful to the Filmnet platform for this cooperation, but surely the economic requirements will determine the fate of these cooperations because economic dimensions are important for platforms.

He added: In my opinion, the short film is a new phenomenon for the audience of the platforms. Many audiences have probably never seen a short film until today, and it can be a good thing that the audience’s mind is empty of the short film medium. For example, consider theater shows, some people may have never seen any show, but they may have a mindset about theater and consider it suitable for a specific audience, and for this reason, even though they have never gone to see a theater show. They don’t have much desire to see it. Therefore, the general audience’s lack of mentality towards short films can be considered a good thing, and I think that if a short film in a short period of time can have a suspense or mystery for its audience with a suitable and surprising ending, watching it can be considered a pleasant experience and the film “Emergency situation” has these features and can involve the emotions of its audience.

He added: This year, at the Tehran Short Film Festival, one of the officials came to the festival and saw a short film for the first time, and this experience was very interesting for him. It is associated with the experience of several different feelings, which is an interesting event in itself. In my opinion, many audiences do not know that the short film has a diverse and pluralistic world and today storytelling has been developed in this cinema, and for this reason, choosing “State of Emergency” to start the online screening of the short film was a very correct choice.

Azarpandar emphasized: We are ready to screen more short films online on platforms. Along with the development of online screening of short films, the screening of these works in art and experience cinemas is also a serious issue for us, as short film packages screened in art and experience can be screened on platforms after the end of the screening in cinemas.
