The play “Until Ashkistan” looks at the history of early Islam from the perspective of Christianity

According to the Fars News Agency theater correspondent, the press conference of the play “Until Ashkestan” was held this morning, Tuesday, December 20, in the presence of director Hamid Hara and Mehdi Haj Mahmoud Attar, the host of the play, in the Hall of Fame of the Shahr Theater. This play will be staged in the main hall of the Shahr Theater at the same time as the Fatimid era.
Hamid Hara, who is writing, directing and producing the play “Until Ashkastan”, said at the beginning of the meeting that “To Ashkastan” is the fourth play with Fatemieh theme to be staged by this play group with Sayeh Art Group. : One of the main harms of our theater field in general and in particular, religious theater goes back to the category of plays. We have to admit that we are poor in the field of writing. Especially in the field of theater! But the Shadow Art Group has always tried to continuously consider the variety of productions with religious events and occasions in interaction with professional writers and to put forward a research perspective in the production of plays. We do not believe in stopping a play for many years.
The director of the play “Until Ashkestan” emphasized that in the field of religious, spiritual, ritual and religious themes, we see the presence of different and interesting narratives and stories: “We have always tried to look at religious issues from a different perspective in the production of works. It is time that we will stage the play up to Ashkestan in the days of Fatimids, and God willing, we will move to new works in the coming years. The play Up to Ashkestan has an extra-religious view of the narrative of religious works rather than intra-religious, and in the meantime we tried to look at the events of the early history of Islam from another angle, namely Christianity. The main focus of this story takes place in the monasteries outside the city of Medina, where people with Christian beliefs and attitudes spent their time while witnessing the heyday of the Christians, the domination of the Roman Empire and the strengthening of Christian foundations in the world.
He added: 20 years after the resurrection of Hazrat Mohammad Mustafa (PBUH) and on the eve of his death, which is considered as the most important issue of this play in the form of narration. We linked the events of the last days and weeks of the Prophet’s life and later during the Koran and the events after the death of the Prophet (PBUH) with the events that take place in this monastery. Our view of the extra-religious approach to one of the most important events in the early history of Islam was to look at it from a fair angle. We reflect on oppression and justice in a simultaneous way, and in this process we tried to show fairness to the audience in the narrations as well, and in this play we do not intend to look at the concepts in question in a very mournful and stereotyped way, especially the early history of Islam. As far as Ashkastan is the result of three months of practice and we hope it will be a dignified show for the audience. The play of this work is the ninth edition of this play that the audience is watching, which has been done with a team of writers and professional consultants from the beginning of 1400 AD until the moment of its final public performance.
The director of the play “To Ashkestan” stated: “The conversion of historical narratives is generally accompanied by various words and dialogues, but we tried to break this familiar space for the audience in the production of the play” To Ashkestan “and the professional movement and lighting design team Use the company of Behzad Mehrabi and Ali Oliaeinejad to show the audience all the events inside the monastery and what is happening in Bani Hashem alley due to the centrality of the story to Ashkestan, along with the narration, speech and dialogue.
Mehdi Haj Mahmoud Attar, the host of the play “To Ashkestan”, continued the press conference by pointing out that the Shadow Art Group started its theatrical activity in 1993 from the school theater, and since 1998, it has taken the first steps to produce professional theater in theaters. The performing arts of the country were harvested, he said: Most of the productions of this artistic group are related to the oppressed martyrdom of Hazrat Sedigheh Tahereh Fatemeh Zahra, peace be upon them, which is another work from the same point of view and concern of the shadow art group. On other occasions such as Eid Ghadir, Mid-Sha’ban, Mubahila and some other important events in the history of Islam, more than 10 plays have been produced to date. There are 30 actors in the play “To Ashkestan” and more than twice that amount are behind the scenes coordinating and presenting this play to the audience in the best way.
Emphasizing that one of our main concerns is the production of professional work in the field of performing arts and in accordance with the current standards of this art, he stated: Playwright, director, actor, light, sound and other factors that form a theatrical work, we have always used professional groups and artists in this field. To date, we have not sold tickets for all the performances of the Shadow Art Group, and they have tried to make people who are looking for new perspectives for the narratives of the early history of Islam use media such as theater, and this is another invitation and a bed for more audiences in the halls. Hamid Hara, director of “Ta Ashkestan”, continued the meeting in response to a question about the unwillingness of the artistic group to perform religious plays continuously during different years. “The play does not mean that I am opposed to such a form of performance,” he said. I believe that focusing on one work and continuing to perform multiple performances of a play causes the theatrical group to stagnate. While we believe that the performing arts need dynamism for both the performing group and the artists. We will try to stage this play in other languages such as Arabic and English for non-Persian speaking audiences in our country and abroad in the next experiments to perform the play to Ashkestan.
In the end, he said: this play will be staged in the 40th Fajr International Theater Festival.
