According to Fars News Agency, Pir Hossein Kolivand, in a video connection with the volunteer day commemoration conference held at the Red Crescent Society of Qazvin province, while congratulating the volunteer day, said: “The volunteer spirit that exists today among the Red Crescent youth is the most important characteristic of compassion.” It is kindness and courage.

He added: “Volunteers are one of the important assets of the country who share a part of their lives with others in the current arena without pay or expectations.” We have seen many times that volunteers in the fields of science, relief and education provide what they specialize in for free.

The head of the Red Crescent Society pointed out: The most important characteristic of a volunteer is self-sacrifice and he does not have a worldly view of issues and he sees the whole world from a spiritual point of view. Volunteers from the Red Crescent Society have proven these qualities. The spirit of volunteerism was instilled in us many years ago by Imam Khomeini, which we witnessed a positive result in the era of holy defense.

Kolivand continued: The positive consequences of creating a spirit of volunteerism in the youth by Imam Khomeini (ra) after his death are also evident in construction, jihad and the Red Crescent. The martyrs of the shrine and the defender of health also achieved a high position of martyrdom with such a spirit, and efforts should be made to institutionalize this spirit in society.

He added: “In order to confront Corona in the days when the country was in a tight spot, we saw that the Red Crescent shone brightly and relieved the burden of the country by relying on volunteers.” In accidents, disasters and troubles, volunteers have always been with the people. In earthquakes, floods, blizzards and icy roads, volunteers today are at the forefront of helping people with all their might.

The head of the Red Crescent Society stated: “Volunteers spend their lives to make others live in better conditions, which is a clear example of self-sacrifice.” The driving force of the country today is the same volunteers and selfless youth who are going through the country through hardships. The revolutionary and Islamic spirit of the volunteer youth plays an effective role in serving the people, and the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) described the value of serving the people well and stated that helping the needy is more valuable than i’tikaaf in the house of God.

Emphasizing that the statement of the second step of the Islamic Revolution can be the solution to many problems of the country today, Kolivand said: the statement of the second step of the Islamic Revolution should be the headline of affairs and act accordingly. Today, the Red Crescent is ready to use the capacities of everyone, and every person who can help in any way should work to untie the knot of the people’s problems.
