The response of the Academy of Medical Sciences to the false claim of “The Lancet”

According to the Fars news agency’s health department, Seyed Alireza Marandi, the head of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed his regret for the inclusion of false information about doctors and the health service delivery system in the scientific journal Lancet.
In a letter to Professor Richard Horton, the editor of Lancet medical journal, he expressed his dismay as follows. The text of the letter is as follows:
Professor Richard Horton
Editor of Lancet Medical Journal
With respect to the Lancet magazine’s report titled “Iranian medics at the forefront of protests”, we are very sorry for including completely false information about the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially doctors and the health service delivery system, in a magazine that is known as a weighty scientific magazine. It is most unfortunate that you have quoted all the completely false information from sources who have records of enmity and espionage in our country.
If the material mentioned in that article was supposed to be based on science, at least it would have been quoted from other sources that are not hostile to our people and country. The Academy of Medical Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which consists of educated scientists and prominent professors of the country’s medical sciences universities, considers the contents of that article an insult to the society of service providers of care and health services, especially doctors who imposed their unique services on the people during the war. He knows that Saddam against Iran and under the cruel sanctions of America and the Western countries that supported him in the epidemic of Covid-19 have shown honesty and expects that magazine to correct the false content included in that article as soon as possible.
It should be mentioned that Lancet scientific magazine has published false information about some recent events in Iran in its latest publication, insulting the Iranian medical community.
