The Donor Legion badge has three categories and two positions (knight, officer, commander, major officer and grand cross), and according to an announcement published in the official newspaper on Saturday, January 1, 2022, this year the different categories of the badge will reach 547 people. Among those who will receive the award this year are Professor Jean-François Delfressi, chairman of the Covid 19 Scientific Council, who was the French government’s top adviser in the face of the Coronavirus epidemic, as well as Agnes Bouzin, the former health minister and current executive director of the academy. The World Health Organization is also seen.

The official newspaper statement said that all members of the Covid 19 Scientific Council will also receive degrees of the Donner Legion badge.

Other recipients of this year’s award will be Mohamed Abdel Latif, Vice President of the French Red Cross, and Eva Thomas, founder of the non-governmental organization SOS inceste, which works to combat sexual violence.

In addition to health activists, figures from the world of art, culture and national and historical heritage activists in France will also receive the award this year.

The Donor Legion of Honor, a civilian emblem, was founded by Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France (1804-1815), to honor the “outstanding merits of those who serve the nation.”
